General Information About Tour Organization in Wadi Rum

Arrival and Departure Times

To ensure smooth organization and coordination, please choose one of the following time windows for your arrival in Wadi Rum Village:

  • Morning: 09:30–10:00
  • Evening: 18:00–19:00

Note:

Guests with a private tour or a pre-arranged program may arrive at any time, provided this is coordinated with us in advance. If you do not have a fixed itinerary, it’s best to arrive within the time windows above so we can organize departures efficiently.

Departure is usually on the final day after breakfast (09:00–09:30) or around 17:30, depending on your arrival time and program.

During the low season, late check-outs may be possible by prior arrangement, either after lunch or at the end of the day.

Overnight Experience in the Desert

We operate mobile desert camping with no permanent structures. To protect Wadi Rum’s natural beauty, we do not run fixed camps.

At day’s end, your guide selects a safe, scenic camp spot, often sheltered by rocks or near natural caves. We light a campfire, prepare dinner, and you enjoy an authentic Bedouin atmosphere under the stars.

Sleeping is typically in the open air for those who wish to embrace the experience. In cold weather, we can arrange traditional Bedouin tents or use natural caves for shelter.

Important (hygiene):
Please bring your own personal bedding (light blanket, sleeping bag, or inner sheet). In desert conditions, it is not possible to wash all blankets and mattresses after each use.

Available Services in the Desert

In line with our environmental principles, there are no fixed bathrooms or showers in the desert. We provide sufficient water for personal use, and it is easy to find quiet, private spots for basic needs.

Environmental recommendations:

Bring tissues or wet wipes and burn them after use.

Use a small plastic bag to collect personal waste and return it to the village for proper disposal.

Personal Belongings

To keep vehicles clear and movement easy, please leave large suitcases in your private car or at our reception house in Wadi Rum Village.

Bring only two small bags:

  1. Day bag: water, sunscreen, camera, hat, light jacket.
  2. Overnight bag: warm clothes, personal items, sleeping gear.

Meals

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included. Meals are prepared in a traditional Bedouin style with fresh local ingredients, typically featuring meat or chicken. Vegetarian and other dietary options are available on request.

Please inform your guide on arrival of any dietary requirements, as supplies are organized before leaving the village.

Communication with Guides

All our guides are local to Wadi Rum, fluent in English, and some also speak French and Arabic. They are experienced in hosting guests from many countries and ensuring a smooth, enjoyable experience for everyone.

Payment

Payment is preferred in cash at the end of the tour (Jordanian dinars or US dollars). There is no ATM in Wadi Rum Village, so please prepare the necessary amount in advance. For group bookings or longer stays, bank transfers can be arranged with prior notice.

Arriving in Wadi Rum Village

On entering the Wadi Rum Protected Area, please stop at the Visitor Center to present your passport or Jordan Pass (the Jordan Pass waives the 7 JOD entrance fee).

After entry, continue by private car or taxi for about 5 minutes to Wadi Rum Village, where our meeting point is located. A team member will be waiting to welcome you and start your desert adventure.
